  1. May I make a small correction? You ARE a writer.

Things change when you can claim that. Your Muse/subconscious gets the message and good things happen. When you’ve written long enough, go read Stephen Pressfield’s Turning Pro. That made another huge difference.

      • It took me a long time to believe it, and to claim it, and to say it out loud – time during which I wrote massive amounts.

I hope you catch on faster – it will save you some unnecessary angst.

You go from ‘OMG, I can’t do this’ to ‘I’m a writer – I can figure this one out,’ and skip a lot of the pain.

Save the pain – your own life is what makes you unique when you write – but don’t waste it on whether you are ‘allowed’ by ‘them’ to call yourself a writer. You are – it ISN’T up to them.
