This Week

So first off this week, I won some books! (I know, it’s crazy huh?) I won a copy of Love at First Sight by Lori Wilde and Sweet Salt Air by Barbara Delinsky on Goodreads! I also recieved access on NetGalley to The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa and it’s sequal, The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa.  So far I’m loving the series and can’t wait to get through both books.

Also, this morning I was notified that I’ve been nominated for the Beautiful Bloggger Award:

by the wonderful slepsnor / Charles Yallowitz of Legends of Windmere. Honestly, I have no idea what the award is given out for, but I’m honored nonetheless. Now, I’m smart enough to notice that there’s been a lot of these awards floating around lately and it seems there’s always some sort of rules that go along with it, like: “Nominate 15 other people”, “tell us something about you” etc. However *pats slepsnor on the back* no rules were posted where I was nominated *grins* so I’m going to assume that I’m allowed to end the chain-letter that is this award at least in the vicinity of my wayward blog. First of all, I’m not sure I even know 15 bloggers to nominate, two, I’m lazy and half asleep right now.. it’s only 8 AM and I haven’t had coffee, and 3, you have to know there’s probably hundreds (if not thousands) of this particular award going around right now if even a handful of people have already nominated 15 people each. I’ll be happy to be the one child out who chooses to say thank you, and bow out.

And my last topic of the day: I will probably not be posting much this week (even though I already really want to post some book reviews for the books I haven’t even finished yet). I’ve picked up a couple of new art commissions over on DeviantART (http://darlingmionette.deviantart.com – plug!), that are going to keep me pretty busy this week. I have a 4-person sketch I need to start working on today, and after that a fully-painted piece. I’m happy for the work, and the pay, since art is my income, but I’m already pouting over the fact that I won’t have much time to read or write this week. Combine that with the fantastic allergies I’ve had the last couple days which are making hard to function, and I can already tell this is going to be a really long week.

  1. Yeah. I didn’t see the rules on mine either, but I see the awards as a way for me to bring attention to blogs that I like reading. Guess the rules and explanation got lost somewhere along the line. I remember reading that one of the awards started at ‘5 blogs/facts’ and somebody jumped it up to 15 for some reason, so the rules are definitely arbitrary.

    • Haha it seems that way. I probably would have made up some arbitrary rules of my own if it weren’t pre-coffee. But I’m also just so new to the whole blogging thing that I don’t know enough people to nominate.

      • That was what I ran into when I got my first one. I had maybe 20 blogs that I followed and I got hit with two 15 nomination awards. Still, they did manage to bring in extra attention to my blog, so I think it was worth the afternoon of agita.

        • I shall consider that advice and keep it in mind for the next time one of these rolls my way. Unfortunately right now I probably follow less than 10 people, I’ve only been blogging for 27 days. So I don’t know how effect it’d be at this point.

          • That does pose a problem. Well, these awards seem to come around a lot and you can always nominate fewer people even if the ‘rules’ say 15. I’ve checked and the WordPress Award police are always stuck at the donut and other pastry blogs. They’ll never catch you.. 😉
